As you are going through the installation process, I would like you to think out loud as much as possible. Say what you're looking at, what you're thinking, and what you're trying to do. This will be a big help to us.

Also, remember that we are doing this to improve Anaconda so we need to hear your honest reactions. Don't worry about hurting our feelings.

Revision as of 19:03, 15 January 2013

This is the first draft of the usability test scripts we will be using when testing the users. We will be testing a total of 8 users (4 novice users and 4 professional/experienced linux users). The type of users we'd like to test are as follows:

  1. Novice users who may be new to linux who just want to install a desktop system
  2. Experienced linux users who may dabble in system administration, are very technical, and like trying out different technologies
  3. Professional system administrators who work with advanced storage devices and configurations, typically on the job, not for fun

The 5 use cases we will be testing are:

  1. Non-English/US Install
  2. Dual Boot Install
  3. Customized LVM Install
  4. Customized RAID Install
  5. Preserve /home directory

Hi, welcome, and thank you for coming. How are you doing today?

I'm ____________ and I'll be walking you through this session today. Before we begin, I want to tell you a little bit about the process so you know what to expect.

Right now we are in the process of redesigning the interface of Anaconda, the installation program of Fedora. We are asking people to test Anaconda to see whether it works as intended. This session should take about 30 minutes.

I would like to make it clear that we are testing the program, not you. You can't do anything wrong here and don't worry about making any mistakes.
