Quick reference

FUDCon is the Fedora Users and Developer's Conference, an opportunity for all who contribute to or use Fedora to meet, learn, plan, and hack. This event is free and is open to everyone. For a taste of what a FUDCon is like, you can view a video from a previous FUDCon.

Planning

Note.png
FUDCon Zurich is in its planning stages.
To participate, join the FUDCon planning list and see the planning page.

Pre-registration

Please add your name to the list if you will attend. Registration is free and open to everyone.

Also, please indicate the following:

  • Put an X in the $$$ column if you need funding to attend, and watch for more instructions on how to request sponsorship.
  • Put a V in the Veg column if you would like vegetarian fare for any meals that we provide during the event. If you prefer vegan fare, please mark that column VV. We will do our best to make sure everyone is accommodated!
  • Put your T-shirt size in the Size column, so we can have an idea about what sizes to have available.
  • If you want to include your IRC nick (strongly recommended), area of participation in Fedora, or other information, you can add it to the "Extra line for Badge" column. Do not exceed 20 characters or the extra line will be in very small print!
  • Use the Comments section for anything else you think organizers need to know.

Lodging information will be made available at a later time. We've organized a contingent in a nice hotel but you'll be able to book a bed/room directly.

By airplane

Zurich has an international airport with flights from all over the world by most major airlines. Within Europe it might be cheaper to fly to EuroAirport] Basel tho.

From Zurich Airport it's an 11 minute train ride to Zurich's main station ("Zurich HB"). From EuroAirport it's a 15 minute bus ride to Basel SBB train station and from there an 1h train ride to Zurich HB. From there, follow the by train instructions below.

Alternatively, from Zurich Airport, follow the tram instructions below.

By train

Zurich has Switzerland's biggest train station (with 26 tracks and expanding) called Zurich HB (or also Zurich main station) and there's direct (night) trains from major European cities like Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Milan, Prag and Vienna.

Switzerland's nationwide railway, the Swiss Federal Railways (usually SBB or SBB CFF FFS) can be found here and their website can be used to get information about international trains as well as all local public transportation (rail, bus, tram, trolleybus, lake boat and cable car). More information on Zurich's local public transportation can be found on the website of the ZVV (the network of all operators in that area) here.

By tram

Once you arrived in Zurich take tram line 10 in direction of Zurich Flughafen (later in the evening it only goes to Bhf Oerlikon). If you instead arrived at Zurich Airport take tram line 10 towards Zurich Bahnhofplatz/HB.

In both cases, get off at Haldenbach station. From there walk some meters downwards until you find yourself in front of the event building. Come on in!

By car

We clearly recommend using public transportation as there's hardly any parking space nearby. As for directions please ask your GPS device or Google Maps.
