''Updated 2008-05-06''

According to its [[Board/SuccessionPlanning|  succession planning]]  document, it is time the next round of Fedora Board elections to take place.  The Fedora Board currently appoints 4 of its 9 seats, and elects 5 of the 9, on a rotating basis.

This election, to return to a balanced election cycle, the Board will elect 4 seats:  3 for full two-release terms, and 1 for a single-release term. After the release of Fedora 10 in approximately November 2008, the Board will then elect 2 seats.

[[Board/History|  This page]]  should help to explain when different seats are filled, etc.

The voting system being used for this election is known as [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Range_voting range voting].  Voters cast a number of votes for each candidate, from zero up to the number of candidates.  If there are seven candidates, voters may cast from zero to seven votes for each candidate.

The [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Range_voting Wikipedia article on range voting] has more information on how range voting works, and tactical methods to use your vote if you care more deeply for a certain set of candidates.
