Allegheny students: Here's where to start.
The press kit is very much a work in progress, as you can see from this page. A first suggestion is to come up with a vision and a definition for what a press kit is and for its purpose - see Press kit for what we've got on this so far, make notes on the things that don't seem quite right, the questions you have, and the gaps we still need to fill in. Then contact the people listed below and the marketing mailing list with your notes, and what you're thinking about in terms of a plan with moving forward.

What level of detail do I need?
A good reference is to look at some of the other release deliverables we do, to get an idea of the level of thoroughness we try to bring to our deliverables; some are better than others. The release slogan, for example, is pretty good; others are less complete.

Good people to contact about this project:
Henrik Heigl and Mel Chua, although Paul Frields is your first "user," as he's the one who needs the first version of the press kit to take to the Red Hat Summit 2010 in June.

Be bold.
Feel free to edit this page; there is an "undo" button, which is the "history" tab at the top of this page; if you click there you'll go to a page where you can roll back any edits you've made). Add new sections. Edit old ones. Take these notes out. Clean it up and make it useful. This page is yours to create - it's everyone's to create.

Introduction

During the Marketing FAD 2010 we explored how the need of a press kit will shape into reality. One goal was to produce a document easy to update and with the lowest work burden. Having modules allow us to update what it is needed, re-shape it for special needs, and also add or remove modules as required.

Modules

Below are sections that we're writing for the (new! modular!) press kit.

At first I guess that About F13 may be more like features. But lately I ponder the idea of having a module for features (resembling Fedora_13_Talking_Points ) and other with the history behind F13. --Yn1v 17:31, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Probably we need a short module on how to use a liveUSB.

Requirements

We need to develop a easy to read text for each module, better if some pictures related can be added.

The first print will be needed for Red Hat Summit 2010 that will be held on June, 22th to 25th. Material need to be send to print earlier.

One person taking care of editing, consulting and asking for stuff for each module will be the best way to go.

History

Further notes on who was assigned to what during the FAD:

  • "About F13" blurb (Neville)
  • 4 F's (Robyn)
  • Pymodule (Max)
  • Stats (Mel)
  • Background of fedora (Ryan and Ben)
  • Design spin (David)
  • Security spin (Henrik )
  • USB key stuff (Russell)

Resources

Henrik wrote a blog post showing examples of (non-Fedora) press kits he's found in the past, along with an analysis of what they contain.
