This page documents a proposed docs FAD.

Purpose

  • Build out completed Quick Docs and publish them
  • Identify additional topics to be moved from wiki and move them
  • Identify updates and fixes for existing docs and publish them
  • Develop a plan forward related to Modular Docs and potential cooperation with other communities and downstreams
  • Finish CI for docs building and eliminate human building
  • Develop contributor handbook
  • Get prototype of translated content online
  • Find a rep for Mindshare from docs

Impact

The completion of these goals will create the following positive change within the project:

  • The Fedora docs team will have better strategic direction for its docs
  • Docs will be publishing in a way that is not blocked by bex being busy
  • Contribution workflows will be clear

Attendees

Attendees are selected based on their ability to join the FAD and produce content. The following is a tentative list and is subject to change.

  • Matthew Miller
  • Brian Exelbierd
  • Jared Smith
  • Pete Travis
  • Robert Kratky
  • 1 more from EU (Stefan?)
  • Justin W. Flory
  • 1 from LATAM/APAC

Planning Prerequisites

See the How to organize a FAD list; you can keep your to-do list here.

  • Work out budget (proposed below)
  • Decide on Dates and Location (tentatively set)
  • Arrange Facilities
  • List Resources
  • Be Somewhat Structured
  • Arrange Lodging
  • Arrange Refreshments
  • Arrange a Social Event

Plan

  1. Location: Seville, Spain
  2. Date: Feb 26 - 2 March 2018, with travel days during weekends before/after
  3. Schedule
    • Participants arrive by the evening of Feb 25 (international travelers may arrive on Feb 24)
    • Feb 26 - Mar 2: all day meeting
    • Participants leave on the evening of Mar 2 or morning of Mar 3

Logistics

Food: Breakfast at hotel; lunch, dinner, snacks outside

Budget

Note: RH employee air travel and Matthew Miller and Brian Exelbierd are funded via other funds

  1. Travel: $1500 for airfare, bus, train, etc. funding needed to get attendees to the FAD (assumes $900 for EU/LATAM, $300 for US)
    • Taxi fare for any attendees? - hope to arrange airport transfers with hotel, if not $400
  2. Housing: ~$4800 for hotel, etc. needed to have attendees sleep during the FAD (assumes $200/night - no room sharing - room sharing and negotiations may reduce)
  3. Food: 3185 (70/day/person * 6.5 days/person)
  4. Space: $0 - ideally included with hotel contract

Total budget: $10385 - this has some padding in it
