Fedora Announcement News

Final Board appointment

Paul W. Frields[1], Fedora Project Leader, announced[2], "I'm pleased to announce that Stephen Smoogen will join the Fedora Project Board. He'll be seated along with the other newly elected and appointed Board members at our next regular meeting in June, which will be an IRC public meeting. Stephen brings many years of experience with the Fedora Project in a variety of areas, and as a volunteer contributor and a Red Hat employee at various times. This appointment completes the normal succession process for the Board for this term. We're currently working out the meeting schedule between the new members, and we'll send it out via normal channels, such as the advisory-board list, well in advance of the first meeting."

Fedora Development News

Nightly live spins moving on to rawhide

Kevin Fenzi[1] announced[2],"With the release of Fedora 13, the nightly live composes will start tracking rawhide as of today (2010-05-31).

See: [3] For logs, images and more information."

Package maintainers -- want test results by mail?

James Laska [1] announced[2], "Greetings package maintainers, Want to get notification of any breakage in your just-built koji packages? This includes results of rpmlint [3], rpmguard [4] and, if applicable, initscript [5] tests. Good news, you can now opt-in to receive test results by mail!

All you have to do is:

  • 1. Login to fedorapeople.org # ssh fedorapeople.org
  • 2. Run the command: autoqa-optin <package> [<release>]

That's it! Thanks to Seth Vidal for the autoqa-optin script and proposed changes to enable this feature."

Outage: VPN Work - 2010-06-04 14:00 UTC

Mike McGrath[1] announced [2],"There will be an outage starting at 2010-06-04 14:00 UTC, which will last approximately 1 hours.

To convert UTC to your local time, take a look at [3]

or run: date -d '2010-06-04 14:00 UTC'

Reason for outage: Updating some vpn settings. I hope this will be a blip lasting a few seconds. This is mostly a "just in case" notice. There's a deadline to meet to have it done by the end of the day which is why it is happening earlier in the day instead of after hours.
