Question - Category pages do not support moving from what I can tell. Is there a recommended way to mark Category pages for deletion (aside from adding to {{Delete}})

A: Instead of moving, you can manually set up a redirect to another category page. See Help:Redirect#A_redirect_to_a_page_in_the_category_namespace for more information.

If you think that users may be looking for the old category name, or if there are other pages linking to that old category name (use the what links here options on the lower left of the wiki page) - then it would be better to have the category page redirect to a new category page.

If you made the page by mistake and really want the category page deleted, just mark it for deletion.

Moving to Archive

Q: It is suggested to move the page to the archive when requesting to delete it. However, the initial page will now be a redirection to the new page in the Archive namespace, and thus we now have 2 pages to remove. Did I understand this correctly? Will the 2 pages be removed? Only the [[Archive:Page]]? Only the old [[Page]]?

Eventually, yeah, since we purge broken redirects too. --Ian Weller 18:53, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
