Hi!
Hi!

I am final year Bachelors of Technology student in Computer Science and Engineering at [http://www.iiit.ac.in/ International Institute of Information Technology] , Hyderabad. My primary interests include Open Source, Object Oriented Programming, Web Designing, Social and Technical Entrepreneurship.
I am Kulbir Saini, a Computer Science Engineering graduate from IIIT Hyderabad, India. I am passionate about Open Source Software development. I am a part of Fedora Project since two years. I am also interested in System Administration. I was a part of Sysadmin Team at my university for one and a half year where we managed proxy, mail, web and DNS servers and wireless network.

I have been using Fedora since the day I started using a computer (three years, started using it after joining IIIT). I tried using other Open Source operating systems, but I was too much used to using Fedora that I could not find them interesting or even useful in some cases.
I proposed an idea of intelligent caching of RPM/DEB packages ([http://gofedora.com/archives/category/intelligentmirror/ IntelligentMirror]) for the same content served from several mirrors which was selected and funded by Google Inc. for Google Summer of Code 2008. I was guided by The Fedora Project and JBOSS.org for the same. While developing this project, I became a squid hacker and developed another project called [http://cachevideos.com/ Videocache] which caches the dynamically served videos from various online video portals like Youtube, Google Videos etc. This is currently being used by ISPs in Brazil, Lebanon, Thailand, Pakistan, Serbia and other countries in Europe and middle east.

I share my Linux/Open Source experiences on [http://fedora.co.in my blog] , where I generally post howtos, reviews and other open source related stuff. I have keep exploring new open source projects every now and then. Recent is [http://drupal.org/ Drupal] which I really loved a lot and soon will be moving my blogs and websites to Drupal.

I love scripting languages and Python is my all time favorite. I am currently working on becoming an active Yum developer. I have been talking on #yum since a month now and have been following the conversations on yum-devel. I have proposed a new design for IntelligentMirror with the help of SethVidal which is more or less related to Yum. I will be working on IntelligentMirror during the forthcoming summer vacations.

Hi!

I proposed an idea of intelligent caching of RPM/DEB packages (IntelligentMirror) for the same content served from several mirrors which was selected and funded by Google Inc. for Google Summer of Code 2008. I was guided by The Fedora Project and JBOSS.org for the same. While developing this project, I became a squid hacker and developed another project called Videocache which caches the dynamically served videos from various online video portals like Youtube, Google Videos etc. This is currently being used by ISPs in Brazil, Lebanon, Thailand, Pakistan, Serbia and other countries in Europe and middle east.
