Agenda

Updates Board business

Updates

  • Fedora 15 released!
  • Elections update
    • Yesterday (5/30) - Board Townhall
      • Very lively and good participation.
    • Today (5/31) - FESCo Townhall
    • Voting begins on June 2nd.
    • Discussion of appointments/elections
  • Jared should be appointing a Board seat within the next 24 to 48 hours, pending RH approval
  • Update on FUDCon {LATAM/EMEA/APAC?} status
    • LATAM
      • Occurred last week
      • Three board members attended (Spot, Toshio, and Jared)
      • Having people attend FUDcon Tempe seemed to improve the FUDcon experience - particularly barcamp which drove audience participation.
      • First time we've had hackfests in LATAM and they were well attended, a number of people were sponsored as packagers.
      • Very good organizers on the ground in Panama.
      • Good turnout from local university.
      • Very good local sponsorships, from Panamanian government, universities and local businesses and helped the success of the event.
      • Combo F15 release party and FUDpub
    • EMEA
      • Has a date now - October 7-9
      • Regular meetings occurring now.
    • APAC
      • Budget exists for FUDcon APAC per CommArch
      • Jared Smith will open bidding process in a few days
      • Like to find a long term 'mentor' to overwatch FUDcon APAC as it progresses over the years (not necessarily a board issue)

Board Business

  • Review of F16/F17 goals, and start brainstorming
    • http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Board_goals_2011
      • Welcome SIG started by Alex Hudson Welcome_SIG - in support of Goal #4.
      • Toshio recently had someone step up to help onboard new infrastructure contributors.
      • Kevin Fenzi has recently started a 'low hanging fruit' list of infrastructure TODOs.
    • Not a board mandate, but just a place to begin the discussion.
    • jsmith: Better calendaring so that we can have more accountability to the schedule
    • toshio: Working with other people in Infrastructure to help mentor new people to the group, and help orient them
    • Will revisit the topic after new Board is seated.

Other notes

  • Next meeting: IRC meeting on Tuesday, June 7th.
  • Happy Birthday to Tom and Máirín.
  • Infrastructure retiring blogs:
