Description

This test case covers browse folders, renaming files, showing metadata and file search.

Setup

Boot Fedora to KDE4 desktop

How to test

  1. Browse folders
    1. Open Dolphin
    2. Open several directories, go back and forward few times
    3. Go to all places on the Place panel by clicking them
  2. Renaming files
    1. Open Dolphin
    2. Right-click a file and choose Rename. Enter new name and confirm
    3. Select two or more files and click F2. Enter name pattern and confirm
  3. Metadata
    1. Open Dolphin
    2. Go to any folder containing more files of various types (e.g. Documents, /temp,...)
    3. Click to Control -> Additional Information and choose any of them (feel free to choose them all)
    4. Click to Control -> Show in groups
    5. Click to Control -> Sort by -> Type
  4. File search
    1. Navigate "System settings" > "Desktop Search" > tab "Basic Settings" and check "Enable Nepomuk Semantic Desktop" and "Enable Nepomuk File Indexer".
    2. Open Dolphin and try search for existing file in your Documents folder using "Find" or "Ctrl+F".

Expected Results

  1. Browse folders
    1. You should be able to browse folders and move back and forward as expected
  2. Renaming files
    1. If you want to rename one file, you should be able to rename it inline (no pop-up dialog)
    2. If you want to rename more files, there should popped up a dialog with hint about pattern
    3. Both ways to rename should work as expected
  3. Metadata
    1. There should be visible files metadata according to your choosing them in Control
    2. After grouping by Type, all types should be together in one group, alphabetically ordered by default
    3. All the metadata should correspond to real type of files
  4. File search
    1. Nepomuk starts file indexing if you are connected to AC.
    2. Dolphin can find your files.
