Ruben Kerkhof

Hi, my name is Ruben, I'm 26 years old and I live in the Netherlands, in a beautiful town called Rijswijk. At the moment, I work as a System Engineer for a large Dutch electricity company, spending the day fighting with Java Messages queues and ear files.

I started with Unix on FreeBSD, but since we use RedHat on the job, I switched over to Fedora. I'm typing this on my Macbook Pro running FC-6.

My packages

Pound is the first package I maintain, it's a really cool and fast http loadbalancer. If you're looking for a reverse proxy and think mod_proxy is overkill, please give it a try.

My second package is PowerDNS , probably the fastest authorative DNS server around. It has backends for MySQL and PostgreSQL, and LDAP as well. There's also a separate recursor, but that will be another package. It's not recursive though, the recursor is packaged as a separate rpm (pdns-recursor).

Another nice tool is csync2. It enables you to sync files between your machines (it uses librsync for that). It has some nifty conflict resolving capabilities as well.

And ...

Oh, by the way, I'm RHCE 804006222819869 and working on becoming an RHCA. I recently passed the first module, Redhat Directory Server.

Feel free to mail me or MSG me on IRC. I'm graveyard or rkerkhof (kerkhof is Dutch for graveyard) on #freenode
