Users can change the default keyboard shortcut with (obviously adjust to the shortcut you want to use)

  • gsettings set org.freedesktop.ibus.panel.emoji hotkey "['<Control><Shift>j']"

and disable autostart with

  • gsettings set org.freedesktop.ibus.panel.emoji load-emoji-at-startup false
