I am a leading expert of the united dispatching control board of the power supply systems of the Northwest of Russia.
Traditional old school developer, maintainer and contributor of various OpenSource stuff.
Location is Saint-Petersburg, Russia.
My sphere of activity - introduction of various Linux-technologies and monitoring of our Linux administrators.
Specificity of our system - a plenty of servers of constant highest availability in some heterogeneous structure (both Linux and other OSes are used together).

Presence of skilled engineers and full duplicating allow us to use Fedora even on critical servers.

In Linux since 1996.
First patch for open-source in 1995 (gcc)
Using RedHat/Fedora since RH-5.0
Red Hat Certified Engineer ([http://www.redhat.com/training/certification/verify/?rhce_cert_display:certno=809003662809495&rhce_cert_display:verify_cb=Verify RH9] , [http://www.redhat.com/training/certification/verify/?rhce_cert_display:certno=805007668229091&rhce_cert_display:verify_cb=Verify RHEL5] )

In my work I use Linux desktop only (all the career). I still like the ancient unix ifaces (command line, curses, vi, mc) because my first workstation had only serial ttys :)

My additional work is a public support of a computer center of Saint-Petersburg state technical university (various Linux-solutions)

Started in the early nineties as a lecturer in UNIX systems at university. As a hobby, ported the newly born Linux to an m68k based system ("Besta" workstation). It was a wonderful and romantic time, when only advanced engineers were using the nascent Internet, in which there was no unrestrained consumption and unrestrained control.

Then implemented various OpenSource and Linux-based solutions for the automation of dispatch control in the global power supply systems. After satisfying all the ambitions as the system architect, focused on personal investment management (a bit :) ).

Profile

Traditional old school developer, maintainer and contributor of various OpenSource stuff.
Location is Saint-Petersburg, Russia.

In Linux since 1996. First patch for open-source in 1995 (gcc). Red Hat Certified Engineer (RH9, RHEL5).

Only Linux all the career and now.
I still like the ancient unix ifaces (cmdline, vi, mc), as well as traditional desktops (Mate) and applications (old style browsers).

 • traceroute : Current implementation of classic traceroute for Linux
 • phpwapmail : WAP-based e-mail client
