Who is Leo?

Hi there! My name is Leonardo Vaz, I'm living in Porto Alegre, Brazil and I am currently a Senior Software Maintenance Engineer at Red Hat specializing on local filesystem (XFS, Ext*, Btrfs) and most recently on distributed filesystems (Ceph and Gluster).

My first contact with Free Software was back in 1998 when I got Red Hat Linux 5.1 (Manhattan) installed in my old Pentium 100MHz with 8MiB of RAM. On the last 18 years I've been running FOSS on all my computers and servers. I'm a former [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conectiva Conectiva] employee and I was responsible for the Tchelinux LUG between 2006-2010 and started contributing with the group recently.

What am I doing here?

Among all roles suggested by the project, I think I best fit in the "People Person" definition, and my main goal is help people to find their place in the project and encouraging them to contribute.

Activities within Fedora

  • Currently I am a volunteer in Fedora Ambassador Project, and contribute promoting the project primarily in Porto Alegre, Brazil

Fedora Activity Days

I organized the first Fedora Activity Day in Sao Paulo, on June 1st, 2013 and I am planning next meetings like this.

Other FOSS related activities

In my free time I try to contribute with other upstream projects sponsored by Red Hat locally in Latin America, and I was responsible for Red Hat Cloud Projects Booth at FISL12, FISL13, FISL14, FISL15, FISL16 and FISL17.

Community background

  • Between 2006 and 2009 I coordinated Tchelinux LUG, being responsible for over 35 events.

Activity report

A maintain a activity report where I try to list all initiatives I am currently involved at Fedora.
