Who is this guy?

I work on the Fedora DocsProject as a writer, editor, and rabble-rouser. In 2007, someone in Raleigh, NC fell asleep on his keyboard and accidentally approved me as an appointed Fedora Project Board member. I'm happy about this; I'm not the only one who falls asleep on his keyboard and makes mistakes.

One of the biggest rabbles that I rouse and wrangle is the DocsProject/SteeringCommittee. I think they call this job "the Chair" because of all the sitting you do. As luck would have it, I was recently (re)elected to the committee in our first ever elections, and was then (re)annointed by the committee as Chair. However, it is well understood that I am serving only one more, six-month term. It is time to bring in new blood to lead this project, and to let me i) sit on my laurels instead of getting burned out, and ii) actually do some technical writing for Fedora. Update 2008-03-28: John "Lucky One-Eye" Babich has taken on the vice-chair mantle, making him successor in line six months later.

As my luck would have it, I do developer community management for Red Hat, with one of my big tools the fabulous Dev Fu blog. What's funny is we also call that "community development", but developer community development is just too awkward. Yet, still, [#Community_Development here it is as a title] ...

To keep myself having fun, I muck around in Websites and [[Infrastructure{Infrastructure]] , trying to make new stuff happen or get fixed. I'm still sitting with the EPEL steering committee , which I'll give a business/enterprise/ISV view of at the Red Hat Summit 2008 . Because it's one of the few non-coding things left to do, I also participate a bit in Marketing and (somewhat) Ambassadors , claiming to be an Ambassador for Santa Cruz, California, USA . Claiming but rarely showing, I tend to be a homebody introvert around the homestead .

Community Development

I'm still working on filling this out, here is what I have so far. -- 2008-03-28

Travel

Current and ongoing community development travel schedule is here:

http://quaid.fedorapeople.org/community-dev/travel.html

So, until August or so, I'm well booked on the distance travel. Maybe some stuff in the Bay Area can squeeze in? Don't hesitate to ask or inform me of somewhere/somewhen I could be visiting.

Jest Fedora Activities, Ma'am

Some of what I have here is also being tracked on the [CommunityArchitecture/KeyProjects:Community Architecture key projects page] .

JBoss.org Projects Now Watching

After JBoss World 2008 I decided to give some closer attention to projects that caught my interest at the event. These are projects that I think are ready for more attention in the enterprise and open communities. My goal is to reach out to these projects on everything from content publishing to full community development work.
