Using Eclipse Mylyn with Red Hat Bugzilla

This is a very short tutorial on how to use Mylyn with Red Hat Bugzilla (which is used for Fedora).

Why?

There are a few functions in Red Hat Bugzilla which are currently not supported by Mylyn -- for example, attempting to close a bug will generate an error with the standard Bugzilla connector. This is a temporary stop-gap to make Red Hat Bugzilla work with Eclipse Mylyn. It is intended to be discontinued when the standard connector integrates the ability to handle workflows like those found in Red Hat Bugzilla.

How?

Using the Eclipse installation manager...

  1. Install the Red Hat Bugzilla Connector from http://chwang.fedorapeople.org/org.eclipse.mylyn.rhbugzilla-site/
  2. Update your Mylyn Task List to the latest version from http://download.eclipse.org/tools/mylyn/update/e3.4

Create a new task repository using the Red Hat Bugzilla connector, using https://bugzilla.redhat.com as a server. Congratulations! you're set.

Common issues

Connection times out: Unfortunately sometimes the static configuration used by Mylyn is not available. This probably happens when the Red Hat Bugzilla static configuration is being regenerated. Please try again in a few minutes.

Cannot match e-mails when submitting: Refreshing the task should get rid of this problem.
