From Fedora Project Wiki

Since their inception in 1999, the "Chemnitzer Linux-Tage" (German for "Chemnitz Linux Days") have gained a reputation of being the German FLOSS community event, attracting over 3,500 visitors on a weekend each March to the central lecture hall and seminar building of Chemnitz University of Technology. The Chemnitzer Linux-Tage team organizes this event because they want to introduce people to Linux and Free/Libre Open Source Software, and they thoroughly enjoy organizing such a diverse, popular, and complex event.

An event of this scale would not be possible without the countless volunteers who contribute significantly to its success. The Chemnitzer Linux-Tage are therefore supported by the Chemnitz Linux User Group (CLUG), IN-Chemnitz e.V., the University Computing Center of Chemnitz University of Technology, the Faculty of Computer Science at Chemnitz University of Technology, and, of course, the Event Organization and Merchandising department and the Construction and Technology department of Chemnitz University of Technology.

At Chemnitzer Linux-Tage visitors can expect a varied program of talks/lectures and workshops with over 100 sessions. Since 2009, the talks/lectures have also been streamed live from the lecture halls. Furthermore, "CLT junior", a program specifically tailored to children and young people, aims to foster curiosity and enjoyment of creative activities among the younger generation. The event is rounded off by the opportunity to ask specific questions and engage in lively discussions in the exhibition area, featuring over 50 projects, organizations, and companies.

The Fedora Project usually had a physical booth at Chemnitzer Linux-Tage each year since 2007 (except mainly the years of COVID-19 pandemic). At our booth, we always showcase the latest Fedora release and some of its new features, sometimes even the current pre-release version. Visitors have the opportunity to try Fedora directly at the booth on different systems, ask questions, and connect with existing Fedora contributors and other Fedora users. A poster in the back of the booth, kindly sponsored by the Chemnitzer Linux-Tage, provides an introduction to Fedora, highlights the foundations and innovations of both the project and the distribution, and encourages visitors to contribute to Fedora.

While many visitors are regular users, our presence with a booth still attracts both: Those who are new to Fedora and want to try it for the very first time, and existing Fedora users who have a specific problem but don't know how best to contact the Fedora Project digitally (or simply don't feel comfortable doing so). In direct conversations, we try to help every visitor, whether they have technical questions or are looking for the right contact person within the Fedora Project. Fortunately, some visitors also become active Fedora contributors over time who additionally show up at the booth every year.
