Include a snapshot of the Online Desktop into Fedora.

Owner

  • Name: ColinWalters

Current status

  • Targeted release: Fedora 8
  • Last updated: 2007-08-30
  • Percentage of completion: 100%

Preview packages are in Fedora rawhide. This feature is marked as 100% as the goal is only to provide a snapshot of what is occuring upstream, not to claim the upstream work is complete.

Usage cases/rationale

The Online Desktop page describes the rationale.

Scope

At the moment, although we have some changes to other Fedora packages such as gdm, fast-user-switch-applet, we are concentrating mainly on development within the upstream tarballs. Therefore, this project is limited in scope to the upstream tarballs.

Test Plan

1. Test that the "classical" desktop configuration continues to work as before (GDM login session GNOME)

2. Test that the "online" desktop configuration works with a new account (signup on online.gnome.org)

3. Test that switching between the "classical" and "online" configurations works without loss - Not quite done; see http://live.gnome.org/OnlineDesktop

4. Check that applications browsing and installation work in bigboard

5. Check that fast-user-switching works from the bigboard person stock - Out of scope for this release until upstream integrates patch

Dependencies
