FAD EMEA 2008 - Proposal: Save Money at the FAD EMEA 2009 with a Scouts Cottage

  • FAD EMEA costs lots of money
  • Ambassadors budget is tight
  • FAD EMEA is growing (in terms of attendees)

• Proposal
  • Replace the hotel by a scouts cottage
  • In 2008 the hotel costs CHF ~2500.- / 19 persons

• Examples near Zurich (easy/fast to reach from main train station or airport)
  • Pfadihaus Schmitte (Seemöve)
    • City: Kreuzlingen
    • 28 beds in 2 rooms
    • 1 mid-sized workign room
    • CHF ~600.- / 22 persons
  • Pfadiheim Breite
    • City: Winterthur
    • 48 beds in 4 rooms
    • 1 big working room
    • 2 mid-sized working rooms
    • CHF ~850.- / 22 persons
  • Pfadihuus Dietike
    • City: Dietikon
    • 32 beds in 1 room
    • 1 big working room
    • CHF ~550.- / 25 persons

• Advantages
  • Savings of at least CHF 1500.- for the accommodation alone!
  • Working room and accommodation in the same building
  • We could cook for ourselves (e.g. buy pizza at the local super market and bake them in the cottage's kitchen)

• Disadvantages
  • More people have to sleep in the same room (same for bath rooms)
  • Beds are not that comfortable
  • Everyone has to bring his own sleeping bag
  • (Not all cottages have internet, but it should be possible to solve this problem)
  • (The cottage must be cleaned at the end, but there's normally an offer to have this done for about CHF 200.- which is reflected in the prices above already)
