Hello,

We noticed that you recently unsubscribed from the Ambassadors mailing list. If you want to remain active in Ambassadors, we ask that you remain subscribed. If you are no longer interested in being a Fedora Ambassador, that is ok. If you let us know, we can help you with that process also. Thank you.

Hello,

Thank you for applying to the "Ambassadors" group in Fedora Account System.

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/AccountSystem

You can follow your Membership Process here on trac.

If you are new to the Fedora Project please read thoroughly

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_be_a_successful_contributor

As Ambassador you give a face and a name to Fedora. You are a person, friendly and approachable. Fedora is big and scary, but you are going to help make sure that *one person* finds their way through all the confusion into the place where they can contribute. You are the glue. You help connect different people in different parts of the Project, because you are always dealing with people whose interests are different.

In order to maintain a high level of quality in our Ambassadors, we ask you to follow a membership process starting with:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors_Join_create_user_page

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors_Join_explore_fedora

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors_Join_choose_a_mentor

Some other important Informations!

As Fedora Ambassadors we follow a conduct https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors/Conduct please read it carefully

If there is no change in your Membership Status in TRAC for longer than 14 Days and we find no Deadline from your Mentor, we clean up the Membership Request.

Change your first name and last name to Latin letters in the FAS if you filled your name in Cyrillic, Chinese, or other than Latin.

Read the Mailing Guidelines carefully before you start posting there. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/MailinglistGuidelines

If you blog about your work as Fedora Contributor, add your blog to Planet Fedora. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Planet_HowTo and please read https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Planet#Appropriate_Material

If you were contributing to Fedora before you signed the CLA, remove yourself from the Unlicensed Group for OPL without options.

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/UnlicensedGroup

After we get a "thumbs up" from your mentor and you have completed above steps, we will sponsor and approve your membership to the Ambassador group in the Fedora Account System.

Additional Steps

It is also recommended that you perform the following steps:
  • Change your first name and last name to Latin letters in the FAS if you filled your name in Cyrillic, Chinese, or other than Latin.

Mentor's first Answer

Hi!

Thank you for your introduction. I am going to be your mentor as you learn more about being a Fedora Ambassador. Part of my job is to help you find your way into the Fedora Ambassador group. Please read the following information, and please stay in touch over email.

For information about obtaining a Fedora Project email alias or Fedora business cards, please visit following:

Please always follow our code of conduct:

Here are a few good places to start exploring our wiki:

Each region of the world has Ambassador meetings on IRC. Please join your region's meeting, and look at past meeting minutes to get an idea of what is happening.

Consider joining a Fedora event near you!

Find the other Fedora Ambassadors on Freenode IRC (chat.freenode.net) in channels #fedora-ambassadors and #fedora-mktg.

I know that there is a lot of information above, but we really appreciate you taking the time to explore the wiki and to become familiar with Fedora Ambassadors and their work. Afterwards, if you are still interested in being an Ambassador, we will work together in order to make sure that you are properly trained and that you can be successful.

Right now, I am interested in knowing more about you. For example, whether and how you are currently contributing to Fedora, how long you have been using Fedora, your plans with Fedora, and why being an Ambassador will help you to reach your goals. If you already have a meaningful user page in the wiki, you do not have to write things twice, point me to it. Otherwise this would be a very good chance to enhance your wiki page. Just be verbose - and I am waiting for your interesting reply via e-mail!

Thanks again, and welcome to Fedora Ambassadors!

Reject the subscription with a note

Hi, this is the Fedora Ambassadors Clean Up Message - we had to remove your request for the Ambassador Group - either you have not fulfilled the Steps to become sponsored in FAS, your sponsor rejected your request or we have not heard from your Mentor a "thumbs up" in the given timeperiod.

Removal Process for Ambassador's Membership

  1. remove Ambassadors category from personal wiki page
  2. remove from Country List (automated!)
  3. remove from 'ambassadors' group in Fedora Account System
  4. remove from Fedora ambassadors list
  5. leave Fedora marketing list

Ambassador Group Membership can be removed for certain reasons:

  • automaticaly triggered by the Process
    • Candidate selfremoval or Candidates request
    • Mentor no longer supports his Mentee
  • need approval by FAmSCo/executed by FAmA
    • violation of the Ambassadors/Conduct (simple FAmSCo quorum needed)
    • regional Communities can do clean up calls
      • (precedent india cleanup Jan2010/Ambassadors had to answer repeated simple pings with "i am alive" This should be done in cooperation with FAmA and FAmSCo)

Inactive Ambassadors

Ambassadors will be removed from the FAS group if they haven't had any sign of online activity for the last 18 months. The actual process works as following:

  • An automated script will grep all kind of activity of Ambassadors and will filter out those who are inactive for more than 18 months.
  • Those ambassadors will be notified by email that they are going to be removed from the FAS group in 14 days. To avoid it, they can just log into their FAS account and they're fine for another 18 months.
  • After 2 weeks the script will run a second time and produce the list of FAS nicks which will be removed from the Ambassadors group.

Note: These kind of removals will be tracked by specific tickets, in order to give ambassadors the opportunity to come back and start contributing again. In that case the ex-ambassadors will receive a short mentoring to update their knowledge of the Fedora Project.
