This chipset uses the 'b43' drivers contained in the kernel. For a comprehensive list of supported chipset versions and more info, check the link at the bottom of the page to linuxwireless.org. Although the 'b43' driver is open source, a proprietary piece of firmware is required in order get this wireless chipset to function.
 
To find out what version you have use a terminal to enter this command as 'root':

The b43 driver with the proprietary firmware currently supports these versions:
 
* bcm4303 (802.11b-only chips)

* bcm4309 (only the 2.4GHz part)

* bcm4318

The first thing to do is to make sure you have the 'b43-fwcutter' tool installed and grab the firmware.
 
The firmware cutting tool is used to extract the bit of firmware needed from the proprietary driver. It is a command line tool and should already be installed if you have done a standard Fedora installation.


If you don't have it you can install it using 'yum':

You should end up with a 'broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5' directory and inside that a 'driver' directory containing 'wl_apsta_mimo.o'.
Fedora 18 through Fedora 23 also includes several optimized packages for Power7 machines. These will be installed automatically if a Power7 processor is detected. The focus for Fedora 24 and newer is on Power8 or newer hardware and the optimizations for these CPU types are handled through a different mechanism.

First, as 'root' set an environment variable pointing to where the firmware should be installed on your system:
Fedora 28 is last release for ppc64 (BE)
Due the limited resource and clear preference of the ppc64le architecture in any new developments, it was decided that ppc64 architecture will transfer into a maintenance mode where the new features (eg. That's it, upon reboot you should have a working wireless card! I would, however, just load the 'b43' module before the reboot to make sure there are no errors:
To make a scratch build of package for ppc64 and ppc64le in Fedora rawhide, run:

Fedora 32 is the latest stable release of Fedora for Power. It was announced on April, 2020. Please see the release announcement for additional details or Download directly from here.

Only 64bit machines (little endian Power8 or newer) are supported now; (Fedora 22-28 supported big endian Power5 to Power8).

32bit packages are not available anymore in F22 or newer. The last Fedora release with 32bit boot images was Fedora 17. Although it might be possible to install a 32bit F17 release and then update with the latest F21 packages, this is not supported by the Fedora PPC developers anymore.

Fedora 18 through Fedora 23 also includes several optimized packages for Power7 machines. These will be installed automatically if a Power7 processor is detected. On October 29, 2016 announcement was made to merge ppc64(le) koji builds of packages with primary koji.

To make a scratch build of package for ppc64 and ppc64le in Fedora rawhide, run: 

  koji build --scratch --arch-override=ppc64,ppc64le rawhide yourpkg.src.rpm
