Cloud Spin

Summary

Please note that the work on this spin has just started. If you like the idea of creating a cloud-ready spin, just join up!

The Cloud Spin is the easiest way to access the cloud. Containing not much more than a browser, file/media managers and some basic configuration tools, it is lightweight but still easy to extend.

Detailed Description

Ever wanted to access the cloud in a few seconds? Are you already managing your eMails with Google Mail or using Google Docs as preferred office suite? Then the Cloud spin is the right choice for you.

It contains a login manager, a simple windowmanager, a filemanager, an image-viewer and multimeda player, lightweight network configuration tools as well as a site-specific-capable browser (SSB).

Applications of Choice

Login Manager: SLIM or LXDM
Window Manager: JWM
Network Manager: wicd and system-config-network
Browser: Firefox with Prism extension
Filemanager: PCManFM
Image Viewer: GPicView
Audio Player: TBD
Printer Support: CUPS, system-config-printer

Theme / Style

Possibly a bit darker designed as other Spins as the content within the browser should be in foreground. The panel should autohide to make use of the full screen size.

Benefit to Fedora

'The future is the cloud', so this Spin will be a great way to access online applications. As it's still Fedora, it is of course extend-able with thousands of offline apps.

TBD
