Firefox KDE Integration

WARNING: This document is out of date (last updated 2010) and is now inaccurate.

Native File Picker

There are 2 things one can do to change the file picker in firefox...

  1. Change the setting ui.allow_platform_file_picker to false in about:config
  2. Install kgtk
yum install kgtk
[bash ~]$ kgtk2-wrapper firefox

Other Integrations

  • Themes and styles

I have seen other suggestions like just using a particular theme to make firefox look more integrated however this one only works if you use the default Oxygen theme

Konquefox is another add-on which adds some KDE style buttons

  • KDE wallet

This add-on provides kwallet access for firefox

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/49357/

  • Notifications

This add-on provides plasma notifications for things like finished downloads

  • Bookmarks

I personally would like the ability to use KDE bookmarks in firefox, but I haven't found anything thus far

Any suggestions?
