This premier is aimed at making Fedora Pakistan's new members familiarize with the communication platform commonly used by Fedora Project community and that's Internet Relay Chat (IRC).

This premier is aimed at making Fedora Pakistan's new members familiarize with the communication platform commonly used by Fedora Project community and that's Internet Relay Chat (IRC). It's meant to be a kick start guide. If you've never used IRC before then you are the expected audience.

IRC Client

Client is a software which is used to connect with IRC servers and join chat forums known as Channels. Chose and download an IRC client to get started with this guide. I've mentioned some clients below or you can search it yourself.

Platform Independent

  • Pidgin is a multi platform IM messaging client. It supports many other protocols beside IRC. Get it
  • Chatzilla is a Mozilla Firefox addon for IRC. Get it
  • Mibbit is a web based IRC application. Get it
  • Freenode Java is a Java applet based IRC client. Get it
  • Gogloom is a web based chat software which support IRC Get it

Linux

  • Konversation is a KDE IRC client. Get it
  • Pidgin is a multi platform IM messaging client. It supports many other protocols beside IRC. Get it
