This test case tests searching within the overview in Package-x-generic-16.pnggnome-shell.

Setup

  1. Boot into a GNOME session with GNOME Shell

How to test

  1. Open the Activites Overview by: pressing the Super key (also known as the Windows key), touching the top-left screen corner with the pointer, or clicking Activities in the top bar.
  2. Type 'desktop' (typed text should go into the Overview search box, with no need to manually focus it), and observe the result in the overview
  3. Clear the search box, and type 'date', and observe the result in the overview
  4. Clear the search box, and type 'firefox', and observe the result in the overview
  5. Plug in a USB data stick (if you have one), clear the search box, type the volume name of the partition on the stick, and observe the result in the overview

Expected Results

  1. After you type 'desktop' into the search box, a 'Places and Devices' bar should be visible in the overview, with a 'Desktop' link
  2. After you type 'date' into the search box, a 'Preferences' bar should be visible in the overview, with a 'Date and Time' link
  3. After you type 'firefox' into the search box, an 'Applications' bar should be visible in the overview, with a 'Firefox' link
  4. Typing the volume name of a USB stick you plug into the system should show a link to the stick in the 'Places and Devices' bar
