Today's instalment of Fedora Test Day will focus on upgrading from Fedora 23 to Fedora 24 Workstation with Gnome-software

Prerequisite for Test Day

List of all prerequisite for the test event.

  • A fresh workstation with all data backed up as this test might result in critical information loss
  • A VM will be good with a fresh build of Fedora 23 Workstation.
  • This COPRrepo enabled and installed
  • Free space on HD

How to test?

  1. Make sure you are running Fedora 23 Workstation with a decent internet connection and root access.
  2. Enable COPR repo run dnf copr enable rhughes/f23-gnome320
  3. Install all packages run dnf install PackageKit libhif libgusb libappstream-glib json-glib gnome-software fwupd f24-backgrounds appstream-data
  4. Reboot and look for fedora.json which you will find ~/.cache/gnome-software/3.20/upgrades/fedora.json
  5. Once inside search for f24 change the corresponding key pair value from Under Development to Active
  6. Gnome-software will prompt for update,accepting the update will download and install F24 Workstation.

Test Results

Visit the result page and click on the column title links to see the tests that need to be run: most column titles are links to a specific test case. Follow the instructions there, then enter your results by clicking the Enter result button for the test.
