About Fab

Fabian (just call him "Fab", that's easier for everyone) is currently a university student living in Bonn, Germany and working part-time as tech support for a medium-sized ISP there. Fab has been using Linux since the summer of 2006 (at first mostly Ubuntu, he switched to Fedora on his main machine at the end of 2009) and has been co-producing and hosting the now pretty popular Linux Outlaws podcast since September 2007. He is also a co-organiser of the OggCamp free software and free culture barcamp. Fab was born in Duisburg, Germany and now lives together with his longterm-girlfriend in Bonn. Fab is an ardent supporter of the Pittsburgh Penguins, has been a devoted Bruce Springsteen fan since he was six and enjoys tinkering with technology a lot. Favourite TV shows include Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5 and Lost. He has also been known to watch Grey's Anatomy and Flight of the Conchords. Fab is a Browncoat.

Fab has mostly been involved in Fedora by reporting and helping to triage bugs. Recently he has joined the Art Team mailing list and is looking to contribute to design work as well.

Hardware

Fab runs Linux on the following devices:

  • Serenity (Lenovo ThinkPad X301) - main laptop and workstation
  • Blue Sun (Dell XPS 210) - mythbox and file-server
  • Mule (Asus EeePC 901) - alternate machine
  • Shiny (Motorola Milestone/Droid) - mobile phone

My servers (also running Linux, of course):
