XFCE is a lightweight desktop environment which aims to be fast and lightweight, while still being visually appealing and user friendly. It consists of a number of components that provide the full functionality which can be expected of a modern desktop environment. Each component is packaged separately so it can be adjusted it to optimal working environment suited to your needs. Xfce adherence to standards, specifically those defined at freedesktop.org.

Try it

XFCE is available for you to try on live cd, simply download the CD image from [ http://spins.fedoraproject.org/torrents//Fedora-11-i686-Live-XFCE.torrent here ], burn it to a CD using your favorite CD writer then choose to boot from CD when your computer starts. When you are done trying it you can choose to install it if it suites your need or simply remove the cd and reboot to return to your other Desktop.
