I am working as a Senior Developer in a software firm located in India. I have around 6 years of experience on various technologies - Java being the primary one.

My journey with open source began in 2002 when I installed Red Hat Linux 8 and it has been a steady partnership since then. I love to try different distros which come out regularly but my favourite is Fedora as I feel more comfortable using it. I am an advanced user in Linux and currently am trying to work out a Fedora system that can be used productively in SOHO environment. Some open source projects that I am trying out in this venture are :

* Virtualisation: VirtualBox, QEMU, XEN
* Domain setup: OpenLdap
* Office documents: OpenOffice
* Audio: Rhythmbox with MP3 plugins
* Video: VLC media player
* Customized SplashImages
* GNOME themes, Desktop Effects

As a Fedora Ambassador, I plan to promote Fedora by organizing events in communities that I am a member of where I would showcase the SOHO Fedora system described above. I believe that Open source systems have now matured to a level where they can meet the growing demands of the user - it is a question of doing the right promotion now so as to create awareness.

Hello ,

I am Manish Gurnani, a citizen of New Delhi, India

I am working as a Senior Developer in a software firm located in India. I have around 6 years of experience on various technologies - Java being the primary one.

My journey with open source began in 2002 when I installed Red Hat Linux 8 and it has been a steady partnership since then. I love to try different distros which come out regularly but my favourite is Fedora as I feel more comfortable using it. I am an advanced user in Linux and currently am trying to work out a Fedora system that can be used productively in SOHO environment. Some open source projects that I am trying out in this venture are :

  • Virtualisation: VirtualBox, QEMU, XEN
  • Domain setup: OpenLdap
  • Office documents: OpenOffice
  • Audio: Rhythmbox with MP3 plugins
  • Video: VLC media player
  • Customized SplashImages
  • GNOME themes, Desktop Effects

As a Fedora Ambassador, I plan to promote Fedora by organizing events in communities that I am a member of where I would showcase the SOHO Fedora system described above. I believe that Open source systems have now matured to a level where they can meet the growing demands of the user - it is a question of doing the right promotion now so as to create awareness.
