Furthermore, try to explore and test different approaches and/or edge cases (for example, what happens if you don't have enough free disk space?).

You can see [[QA:Testcase_Workstation_Graphical_Upgrade]] , execute the test case and and can post your results in the test day results page .

I think someone else mentioned that it would be nice to see more detailed progress info, just to comfort the user that the d/l didn't get silently stuck or hung.
Visit the [http://testdays.fedorainfracloud.org/events/8 result page] and click on the column title links to see the tests that need to be run: most column titles are links to a specific test case. Follow the instructions there, then enter your results by clicking the ''Enter result'' button for the test.

Fedora Test Day
Workstation Graphical Upgrade

Date 2016-05-16
Time all day

Website QA/Test Days
IRC #fedora-test-day (webirc)
Mailing list test

Can't make the date?
If you come to this page before or after the test day is completed, your testing is still valuable, and you can use the information on this page to test, file any bugs you find at Bugzilla, and add your results to the results section. If this page is more than a month old when you arrive here, please check the current schedule and see if a similar but more recent Test Day is planned or has already happened.

What to test?[edit]

Today's installment of Fedora Test Day will focus on upgrading from Fedora 23 to Fedora 24 Workstation with Gnome-software

Who's available?[edit]

The following cast of characters will be available for testing, workarounds, bug fixes, and general discussion ...

Prerequisites for Test Day[edit]

  • A fully updated Fedora 23 Workstation installation, either on bare metal or in VM (please make sure you have no important data on that installation, things might go wrong -- don't do this on your production machine!)
  • Enough free space on HDD

How to test?[edit]

Follow the instructions from QA:Testcase_Workstation_Graphical_Upgrade.

Furthermore, try to explore and test different approaches and/or edge cases (for example, what happens if you don't have enough free disk space?).

Reporting bugs[edit]

If you have problems with any of the tests, have a look at the list of reported bugs in Bugzilla and in the results page. If you don't see it, please a new bug to Bugzilla, probably against gnome-software component. Add bug 1308538 to the Blocks: field. If you are unsure about exactly how to file the report or what other information to include, just ask on IRC #fedora-test-day or #fedora-qa and we will help you.

  1. RHBZ #1335414 The upgrade went fine. Initially, after enabling the copr, logging out and back in, gnome-software threw up a notification. On opening the app and clicking on "download", though, it threw an error - didn't give any details, though - looks like the bug that Kamil has filed already. I restarted and then it worked OK. The upgrade went OK - showed the percentage in the top left corner. Then it rebooted and everything seems OK now. The wiki page says it should notify the user about broken packages, but it didn't seem to tell me anything. I had vlc etc. from RPMFusion installed, and they're broken for F24 - they're not on the system any more, so I assume --allowerasing or something similar is enabled. The rest looks good - nothing broken, no real issues.
