Fedora 14 Artwork
Slide Template Bounty
After in the previous week the team decided on the graphic concept to be used for Fedora 14, now is the time to gather feedback and ensure the theme is developed openly and with input from the entire community. For this Kyle Baker created a wiki page to collect it and Máirín Duffy wrote a blog post on the topic. Everyone is invited to comment and spread the word, the deadline for Alpha is 2 weeks away.
Máirín Duffy launched a new design bounty on her blog and a new contributor Emily Dirsh applied for the 'ninja' title "I uploaded the template to the wiki. If anyone wants to take a look at
the template file and the svg mockup file I used for all the extra graphics, you can get them here" and then followed with an improved version "Based on the feedback I've gotten so far, I worked up a new revision of the slide template." Máirín was happy with the result "http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/design-team/2010-July/002914.html" and the announcement is due the next days "If you're happy with the change, let me know because I'd like to announce you as the latest bounty winner sometime this week."

Also in Fedora 14 related news, the Design Team is calling for contributions  with the supplemental wallpapers where everyone is invited tu submit freely licensed images (CC-BY or CC-BY-SA) and the team will make a selection for inclusion in the distro.

Testing the new Fedora Branding Fonts
Front Page Redesign
The Design Team is testing a new selection of branding fonts, Comfortaa as title font instead of MgOpen Modata and Cantarell or Droid Sans as body font, for this the current Bi-Weekly Design Bounty will use those fonts. Also  Ryan Lerch and Ian Weller wrote blog posts, informing ans asking for feedback about this trial.
Jef van Schendel created a page reviewing the content of the fedoraproject.org front page, as part of the on ongoing redesign effort "Everyone's free to track it and change/add/corrent stuff as they like", Paul Frields reminded about the existing design ideas "We should probably be referring back to the mockups Mairin did a while back and revising where necessary to get them more in line with the spins.fp.o design and other recently mocked-up designs" and Máirín Duffy provided fresh mockups. The topic was also discussed in depth at the weekly team IRC meeting

Máirín Duffy posted a mockup for the new local communities landing page "So Sijis converted it to the 960.gs grid we've been looking at using for the upcoming new www.fpo" and Jef van Schendel proposed the use of flags "Maybe flags would be less trouble + take up less space + be clearer." Máirín forwarded the question to the Advisory Board together with Jef's mockup where the general opinion was contrary to such use "Lets avoid the flags, shall we?"

Slide Template Bounty

Máirín Duffy launched a new design bounty on her blog[1] and a new contributor Emily Dirsh applied[2] for the 'ninja' title "I uploaded the template to the wiki. If anyone wants to take a look at the template file and the svg mockup file I used for all the extra graphics, you can get them here" and then followed[3] with an improved version "Based on the feedback I've gotten so far, I worked up a new revision of the slide template." Máirín was happy with the result "http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/design-team/2010-July/002914.html" and the announcement is due the next days "If you're happy with the change, let me know because I'd like to announce you as the latest bounty winner sometime this week."

Front Page Redesign

Jef van Schendel created[1] a page reviewing[2] the content of the fedoraproject.org front page, as part of the on ongoing redesign effort "Everyone's free to track it and change/add/corrent stuff as they like", Paul Frields reminded[3] about the existing design ideas "We should probably be referring back to the mockups Mairin did a while back and revising where necessary to get them more in line with the spins.fp.o design and other recently mocked-up designs" and Máirín Duffy provided[4] fresh mockups. The topic was also discussed in depth at the weekly team IRC meeting[5]
