Why do you want to work with the Fedora Project?

As as designer for the Berkeley yearbook, I know how difficult it can be at times to communicate with design team members, especially if people are too busy to meet face to face. When I stumbled on GlitterGallery while browsing the Fedora project page, I realized the potential of what such an idea could bring to the table. I'm excited for a git-like web application that will allow people to communicate and share ideas over the web.

Working with GlitterGallery will be a great way not only to help advance the possibilities of the project, but also for me to gain more knowledge about web development. It'll be great to see people actually utilize the website once it's at full steam.

Do you have any past involvement with the Fedora project or any other open source project as a contributor?

No, but I plan to hit the ground running. Contributing to open source software was something that I had never realized I could involve myself with, but now that I've explored the idea, I'm enthusiastic to start.

Did you participate with the past GSoC programs, if so which years, which organizations?

No. But better now than never.

Will you continue contributing/ supporting the Fedora project after the GSoC 2014 program, if yes, which team(s), you are interested with?

Yes, I plan to continue with the work that I do over the summer. As a main contributor to the project I'm applying for, it is important for me to do project maintenance and upkeep even months after the program is finished. There are plenty of additional features I've included in my proposal that I will not have time to implement, so I plan to continue working on them after Summer of Code is over.

Why should we choose you over other applicants?

I'm fairly experienced with the skills needed to accomplish this task set before me, having completed CS169 (Software as a Service) and written a couple of backend based applications in Ruby on Rails, the primary language involved in the project. I'm also very resourceful when it comes to learning things that I don't already know. I'm not afraid to ask questions to find the right answer, and work well in very small groups.

More importantly, I'm willing to dedicate my entire summer to this project. Due to the lack of social activity and generally more interesting things in my life, I have the summer free to focus my efforts into completing every proposal in my project submission.

See my proposal for more about me.
