Fedora 8 Test 1 Pre-Release Test Coordination

Current Testing Tree

Rawhide is the current testing tree. You can install from one of your local mirrors or build your own ISOs if you need installation media.

A release candidate tree (isos of rawhide) is continually kept here .

Release Criteria and Feature Status

  • ["QA/ReleaseCriteria"]
  • ["Releases/8/FeatureList"]

Major Changes

  • The method which anaconda uses to populate the install images has changed and thus any issues with files missing from the installer images need to be pointed out. Loudly.

Known Issues

There is a blocker bug for this test release: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=F8Test1

New bugs should be filed here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/enter_bug.cgi?product=Fedora&version=devel&blocked=F8Test1

Status Whiteboard

These are notes on issues we've encountered that may not be on the blocker list yet.

  • boot.iso doesn't boot on some i386/x86_64 machines (Mostly Dell) (#249597 ) ** SOLVED **
  • netbooting or adding vmlinuz/initrd to a pre-existing grub.conf works OK.
  • firstboot traces back before you get to create a user due to a system-config-securitylevel bug (#247863 ) ** SOLVED **
  • You can still log in as root and create a user that way.
  • PPC loader SIGSEGV. Most likely keysymbols. Anaconda team is working on it. #249881 ** SOLVED **
  • RHGB will not launch; bug #250047 ** SOLVED **
  • Adding a repo (at least from DVD install method) leads to traceback during install; bug #249908
  • Unable to use IDE disk in some ppc (ppc64?); bug #250130
  • selinux unsable on ppc; ppc32 binaries compiled with wrong options and require things selinux rightfully denies.
  • You can work around by booting with 'enforcing=0'

Blocker Bugs

For reference, here are the Blocker and Target bugs for this release:
