Brian (bex) Exelbierd
Hi, I’m Brian “bex” Exelbierd — a product manager at Microsoft focused on open-source strategy, especially where community Linux distributions and cloud infrastructure meet. I work to ensure that investments in projects like Fedora and Debian support both community independence and Azure’s broader goals.
Before joining Microsoft, I spent several years at Red Hat, where I had the honor of serving as the Fedora Community Action and Impact Coordinator (FCAIC). In that role, I helped shape Fedora’s community strategy, supported contributor growth, and worked to align Fedora’s mission with the broader open-source ecosystem. I’ve also been involved in Fedora Docs, CommOps, and various outreach efforts over the years.
Outside of work, I’m a spreadsheet nerd, long-form journalism fan, and dad living in Brno, Czech Republic. I enjoy tinkering with glue code, hunting for the best artisanal bread, and having deep conversations over coffee or beer. You can find more about what I’m up to at http://www.winglemeyer.org.
