This page is a very quick guide to how to set up your Fedora system for the best docs tools available, Emacs and PSGML.

Assumptions

  • You have successfully installed Fedora on your system.
  • You have access to the Internet.
  • You have completed the steps for CVS access (CLA, etc.).

Procedure

1. From the main menu, select Applications -> Add/Remove Software. Provide the root password at the prompt.

1. From the groups list on the left pane, select Applications. From the components list on the right pane, select Authoring and Publishing.

1. From the components list on the right pane, also select Editors. Click the button for Optional Packages. From the optional list, select emacs and close the dialog.

1. Choose List from the view menu on the far left. Once the list appears, find and select psgml from the list.

1. Select Apply to download and install the packages.
