Problem Space

Currently, Fedora Discussion lacks a dedicated category for community members to express gratitude and give recognition to fellow contributors. This absence of a platform for expressing appreciation hinders the community's ability to acknowledge and highlight the valuable contributions made by individuals.

Proposed Solution

To address this issue, we propose the addition of a new category in Fedora Discussion specifically for "Kudos." This category will provide a platform for community members to express their gratitude and appreciation towards other contributors. Users will be able to create thank-you messages highlighting the specific contributions or actions that have positively impacted them.

Scope

The proposed solution involves creating a new category within the Fedora Discussion platform dedicated to "Kudos." The category will be accessible to all community members and will focus solely on expressing gratitude and recognizing the efforts of others. This addition will not affect any other existing categories or functionalities within Fedora Discussion.

Active Ingredients

To implement this solution, the following components are required:

Component 1

  • Develop a new category named "Kudos" within the Fedora Discussion platform.
  • Configure the category settings to allow contributors to create new threads and participate in discussions.

Component 2

  • Create a template for Kudos messages that includes the following key areas:
    • Specific Feedback: A section where users can provide specific details about the contributions, actions, or qualities of the individual being recognized.
    • Impact: A section where users can describe how the contributions of the recognized individual have positively impacted them personally or the Fedora community as a whole.

Discussion Points

  • How can we promote the use of the Kudos category and encourage community members to participate?
  • Should there be any guidelines or moderation policies for Kudos messages?
  • How can we ensure that Kudos messages remain constructive and focused on appreciation?
  • Do we want to open this only to Contributors or the entire community?
